My son played in a playpen while I worked 12-hour days in sanding floors and removing wallpaper. Ha! It was beginning to seem logical, however it wasn't quite done. It was going to take a lot of money effort and shopping my favorite interiors to decorate this place. In order to stay within budget, I began going with my boys to estate sales in search of diamonds. Our weekly routine that included spending Thursday through Saturday walking around estate and garage sales, buying old and new things. I spent the rest of the week painting and sanding on the driveway. The furniture looked like this... which is where I found my love for restoration. When our home was fully furnished, I could not put it down! In the market in town, I rented a small space and sold some items. Then, I ran out of lots of pieces to keep in the space available. Then I began hosting open houses at my house that saw more than 1 000 visitors came through on one weekend, and purchase whatever they saw on the ground floor. My company Growing Days began here. As my business flourished and so did our small family. I was finding that balance between what it took to start a new business as well as a mother too. Growing Days was the obvious decision. It was in 2013 when my beautiful daughter Nora came along our 4th kiddo. Though I was content about the direction my company went, I was feeling like I was in need of some time off. I decided to take a break from creating furniture for vintage homes, and also slowed my pace in order to stay at home and raise the children. This was precisely what I required. The phone rang again after some time. They were asking for my help in interior decoration and home renovations. These were mostly customers who came to my open residence to buy furniture. I began taking on clients one at a time taking my time however it wasn't long before I had numerous accounts and had a complete home renovation business. If you'd told me that my company would become the basis for a DIY Network show, I would probably have laughed. When I look back, it still makes me laugh.
