Jennifer Garner is a West Virginia native born in Houston on the 17th of April, 1972. William John Garner was her father and a chemical engineering for Union Carbide. Patricia Ann Garner, the mother of Patricia Ann, taught at an area college. To follow her father, she earned a degree in chemical engineering. Because she wished to become an actor, she moved to New York. She was employed at a restaurant and was a part of Broadway shows. She was in as a guest on the tv show "Felicity." It was here that she met Scott Foley, her first husband. Garner got her first big part in "13 going on thirty", a romantic comedy widely praised. She was a teen girl who was trapped within the body of an adult. Garner chose Gary Winick, who directed the film. She and Winick were able to continue to collaborate to find other projects after the death of Winick. Garner earned the honorary title of the artist ambassador in 2009 by Save the Children U.S.A. The program focuses on literacy, nutrition and early childhood education. Garner has been a member of the board of this non-profit organization since the year 2014. She promotes early childhood education. She has been visiting families throughout Early Steps to School Success which is a program that aims to teach parents how to support their child's education - acting as an ambassador.
